Here’s awesome footage from our carcass cam of a majestic sub-adult/immature Golden Eagle. Notice the golden nape, legs feathered all the way down to the feet, and the proportionally smaller head than a Bald Eagle. These eastern raptors have made a nice comeback. Visit the Catskills! This beautiful area has a lot to offer, you’ll fall in love. 😍 😍 😍
Sportsman Educators’ Workshop

On Saturday, January 28th, my wife and I had a highly educational, entertaining, and informative day at a NYS Workshop for Sportsman Educators. Mr. John Bowe, NYS 4-H Shooting Sports Assistant Director, kicked off the workshop and kept the event well organized and engaging. We had the pleasure of hearing the newly appointed New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Director of the Division of Fish & Wildlife, Mr. Tony Wilkinson speak. Environmental Conservation Officers presented on the topic of, “It’s the Law!” Among other speakers, was also the DEC Sportsman Education Administrator, Mr. Chuck Dente. Being a new instructor, it’s inspiring and heartwarming to see, hear, and meet some of the dedicated, seasoned, veterans in this field. Collectively, thousands of hours have been volunteered yearly to children and adults to help sustain the sport of hunting. Statistics are showing that with the proper training that is being implemented through these certified NYS hunting instructors, hunters are being safer in the field.
Vegan Turned Hunter

On January 28th, it was a pleasure to listen to and speak with author Tovar Cerulli of the enlightening book, The Mindful Carnivore, A Vegetarian’s Hunt for Sustenance. This is a thought provoking read about a former vegan who turns to hunting his own meat. It’s an excellent source for anyone, but especially if you’re considering hunting and are unsure.

Watching Nature’s Beauty At Work

The bald eagle has long been considered a symbol of strength and freedom. In 1787, it was officially adopted as the emblem of the United States of America. Today, an eagle was observed right after harvesting its prey. Its talons were clinging tightly to a rabbit, as it soared off into the sky. #Symbols #USA #Inauguration2017 #Trump45 #MAGA

Jim & Jim Jr., 30 Consecutive Years
Posted by Ryan Fifield | Posted in Fifield News | Posted on 17-01-2017
Our Buck-Horn Lodge family, for generations, has taken pride in fostering lifelong customers and friends, just like father and son, Jim & Jim Jr. This past October 2016 was special, as it marked their 30th year in a row of coming to the lodge. From bow hunting in the pursuit of bucks, to shotgun hunting turkey, along with fishing right from the riverbank of their cabin in the East Branch of the Delaware River, or on a lake on our bass boat, family quality time has been spent with memories made that will be cherished a lifetime. We thank them for their friendship, loyalty, and business, and look forward to many more years to come!
